I am weak.
I’ve been undone by fresh strawberries and lightly sweetened whipped cream (the real stuff).
Not just tonight.
Not just last night.
But three nights in a row.
I am weak.
So, so weak.

Just Too Fat
I’ve spent my whole life as “the fat girl,” but only recently has that title proved to be too much for me to handle.
This journal does not represent my quest to accept myself as “big boned” or “pleasantly plump” or even as “fat and fabulous.”
No.
These pages are as much about coming to terms with the fact that I am just too fat as they are about my journey towards a healthier life.

You mean that’s it?
Here I was thinking you ate an entire cow or something.
Yay! It was only strawberries! Strawberries are soooo good for you — read this.
Now, enjoy the memory of those delicious berries with cream and don’t let any “mean voices” make you feel bad about enjoying such a wonderfully sensual experience. *grin*
Weakness has nothing to do with it. What’s happening is that your body, since you are losing weight, is flooding you with chemicals that make you want to eat. Meaning that after losing weight, your body increases your desire for food. That isn’t weakness on your part. That’s your body’s ancient response to a diminishing number of calories – cut back and your body is going to make you think about food 24 hours a day.
You should read Rethinking Thin by Gina Kolata – that’s what’s going to change your life. About 75% of your excess weight is genetically determined and your body is going to fight you tooth and nail when you try to lose it.
You can see this information as either depressing or as liberating. But you aren’t fat because you’re bad. You’re fat because of your genes. And your genes want you right where you are. That’s why you’re getting hungry and fantasizing about food.
Bizarrely, when obese people lose weight, their body ceases to function normally and only returns to a normal function when they put the weight back on. Hideous, but true.
You should come over to my blog and read the Why You Can’t Lose Weight And Keep It Off category. At least it will allow you to really understand what it is you’re experiencing.
None of it has anything to do with a lack of discipline.
Sweet sweet strawberries….droool.
Cream (in moderation) is better for you than margarine or fake butter or low fat milk! Not the end of the world, girl! The only problem I have with the whole scenario is the sweetening of the cream. As for the strawberries – have as many as you want!
YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMY!
The real stuff is the only way to go. I would much rather have a bit of the real stuff then a bowl of the fake. I cant wait till we get some good strawberries.
Enjoy!! Its not about deprivation its about moderation anyways!!
*huggles*
=0)
OH MY ..YOU ATE A HEALTHY SNACK..? HOW COULD YOU…(hint: capital letters means I yelling)
Three days out of the rest of your life? Hang in there, you’ll be OK!
Yum, sounds good! Save me some! :-)
At least they were strawberries and not cheesecake!
http://www.jonesview.wordpress.com
they’re strawberries. they are not evil.
I’ve been eating a bag of cheetos! you are so doing better than me.
I’ll take your strawberries and whipped cream over my friggin cheese and cracker addiction this week anyday!!!!!
Here I was thinking you were lucky, not weak. :) All things in moderation….
Is that all? come on! those are actually great fro you very low in cals, good for anti oxydants. An option tha might be better than the whip cream is fat free sour cream with a touch of splenda…it tastes the exact same. But u’ve not done any damage with what u ate, keep going. K.
Yeah. Moderation… thing is, I’ve never been too good a that. Trust me, when I say I’ve been undone by berries and cream, it’s because I’ve eaten A LOT of them. Plus, I might have forgotten to mention all that angelfood cake. I’ve been a bad, bad girl.
Don’t worry so much about it. For one, strawberries are pretty healthy, and for another, 3 nights out of a year isn’t going to kill you. :)
Good luck on your weight loss, and keep us updated. :)
jtf, I hear your confession, my child, and absolve you of your sin. :)
Love you!!
*smile* Forgive me, Bikini, but I have sinned? Thanks for the absolution… just don’t make me say the rosary! :)
